スティーヴンソン全集（アメリカのアザミ版） The Thistle Edition of Robert Louis Stevenson's Works [Marginalia 余白に]
9月11日の記事「スティーヴンソン全集 Works of Robert Louis Stevenson」で書いたように、ロバート・ルイス・スティーヴンソン (1850-94) の死後、『あしながおじさん』の出る1912年までのあいだに、英米で数種類の全集が刊行されていますが、ジーン＝ジュディーが購入したと空想されるものとしてアメリカの the Thistle Edition があります。 "Robert Louis Stevenson - Bibliography: Collected Editions" <http://dinamico2.unibg.it/rls/colledits.htm> というページは、"[first] Thistle Edition" として、24＋3巻 (New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1995-99, 1911-12) と記載し、以下のような細かい記述と各巻の構成へのリンクを記しています。――

Bdg: Red buckram with lettering and ornaments in gold.
Sold by subscription. frontispieces; 2 vols of Balfour’s biog. added as vols 25-6 in 1911; ‘New Letters’ added as vol. 27 in 1912; headings vary on title pages: "The Novels and Tales of…", "The Travels and Essays of… etc. Issued to subscribers only. Individual vols. were also sold separately (in bindings without the thistle motif). List of vol. titles.
予約購読だけれど、個別に販売もしたと書かれています（ただしその場合は "thistle" （アザミ）の図柄がない製本だった）。タイトルページの記述は「R. L. S. の長篇・短篇小説集」とか「R. L. S. の紀行文と随筆集」とか、もとからまちまちで、全巻に統一された総題はなかったようです。
Internet Archive で、Works of Stevenson みたいな検索をかけていたので、この全集がヒットしなかったことに先日ようやく気づきました。そして、 "The Novels and Tales of Robert Louis Stevenson" がこの全集の呼称であることがわかりました。
以下、せっかくですので、それぞれが各巻冒頭のポートレトを見られるようにリンクしてみます。ただし、初版ではなくて20世紀になってからのリプリント版が混ざっていますです（主として1903年版）。

第22巻にそれまでの総索引Index がついていて、そのタイトルで "Thistle Edition" と自ら名乗っていることがわかりました。それから、このアメリカ版全集でも書簡集の編者として名が挙がっている Sidney Colvin の編集したエディンバラ版とは、構成が、手紙以外の部分も、異なっていることがわかりました。
